This Privacy Policy explains how Jessica Chan Studios LLC ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and shares information when you visit wordracergame.com or play Word Racer (the "Service"). If you have questions, email us at wordracergame@gmail.com.
Summary
- You don't need an account to play, and we don't ask for your name.
- The username you choose, and your game activity, are shared with other players in your game. Your username and score may appear on the public leaderboard.
- We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and Google AdSense to show ads. Both use cookies.
- We don't sell your personal information for money.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Username. The name you choose when you play. It's shown to other players in your game and, for high-scoring games, on the public leaderboard. Please don't use your real name or email address as your username.
- Game activity. The names of games you create, the words you submit, and your scores. These are sent to our servers so that multiplayer games and the leaderboard work.
- Email address, only if you subscribe to updates. Our mailing list is managed by Mailchimp (Intuit).
- Feedback and requests you send through our Google Forms (bug reports, feature requests, donation receipt requests) or by email.
Information collected automatically
- Technical and log data. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Google Cloud) automatically records information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested and the date and time of each request. We use this to run, secure and debug the Service.
- Usage data. Through Google Analytics we collect information about how you use the site: pages viewed, games started and finished, features used, approximate location (country or city, derived from your IP address), and similar events.

Information stored only in your browser
Your username, sound preference and personal high scores are saved in your browser's local storage so they're remembered on your next visit. This information stays on your device. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Donations
Donations are made through Zelle, directly from your own bank. We don't receive or store your bank or card details. We only see the information your bank shares with the recipient of a Zelle payment.
2. How we use information
- To run the game, including multiplayer games and the leaderboard.
- To understand how the Service is used and to improve it.
- To show advertising that helps pay for the Service.
- To send you updates, if you've subscribed. You can unsubscribe using the link in any email.
- To respond to your feedback, bug reports and requests.
- To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse, fraud and invalid ad traffic.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Cookies and advertising
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to measure how visitors use the site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as how often you visit and which pages you view. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to display ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

If you opt out, you'll still see ads, but they won't be personalized based on your browsing.
Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before using cookies for personalized advertising, through a consent message provided by Google. You can change your choices at any time using the privacy settings link shown on the site.
Managing cookies
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. If you block cookies, the game will still work, but ads may be less relevant.
4. How we share information
We share information only in these situations:
- With other players. Your username, words found and scores are visible to others in your game, and high scores appear on the public leaderboard.
- With service providers that help us run the Service: Google Cloud (hosting), Google Analytics (analytics), Google AdSense (advertising), Mailchimp (email updates) and Google Forms (feedback). They process information under their own privacy policies and their agreements with us.
- For legal reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or us.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of assets, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
We don't sell personal information for money. Some US state laws treat sharing data with advertising partners for personalized ads as a "sale" or "sharing". You can opt out of this using the ad-choice links in section 3, or by emailing us.
5. How long we keep information
- Game records on our servers are deleted automatically once they're no longer needed, usually within about a day.
- Leaderboard entries (username, score, game type and date) are kept so the leaderboard can show all-time high scores.
- Mailing list subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics retention settings.
6. Children's privacy
Word Racer is a general-audience game and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (for example in the EEA, UK, Canada, or US states such as California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of targeted advertising. To make a request, email wordracergame@gmail.com. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If you're in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Our site doesn't currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, because there is no agreed standard for them.
8. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Links to other sites
The Service links to, and shows ads for, other websites we don't control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
